Despite The Headline Figure

As the r left the month, so my pinstripes should have gone away (except for funerals) until it returned, and my linen suit should have come back out for another year. Of course, that has not happened. Nor do I know when I shall take the first Pimm's of the season. What times, what times, what times.

And they must not end one second early. I have a lifelong susceptibility to coronavirus infections. I have a weakened immune system due to a colectomy 12 years ago. I am BAME. I am a man. I live in one of the poorest parts of the country.

A country that is well on the way to having the highest number of deaths in Europe, and the second highest in the world. Indeed, it probably already has them, so fiddled have the figures been. And today, we hear both the Government and its media pets crowing about 100,000 tests when 40,000 of them are out in the post and may never be returned, while thousands of them were re-tests of the same patients.

Andrew Neil must be some Corbynista Trot: "The original target was 100,000 people tested by end-April. That target has been missed, despite the headline figure. Indeed the more you looked at the 122,000 stat, the more it looks a propaganda figure rather than a reliable guide."

While drawing a salary as Leader of the Opposition, Keir Starmer goes so far as to congratulate the Government on this horrific and mendacious state of affairs. At the very least, the lockdown ought not to be lifted until Labour's woeful poll rating, which is within the margin of error to be 20 points behind that of the Conservatives, had prompted the coup that was attempted against Jeremy Corbyn when he was doing far, far, far better than this.
