Bounded Thinking

On the day that the true death figure is confirmed to be no lower than 55,000, the Government will introduce its second time-lagged Bill in two days.

Yesterday, it was a throwback to the Brexit referendum era on immigration, which no one ever mentions anymore. Today, it is a scheme to redraw the boundaries for the House of Commons.

Oh, well, I suppose that one seat will have to go once 60,000 people had died. Not long now. But in general, the Conservatives won a majority of 80 under the present boundaries. So why change them?

Well, they have a bee in their bonnets about this one. It doesn't matter that they won very big indeed under the present arrangements. They have been banging on about this for 20 years, so now they can't stop.
