Newspapers' circulation is in freefall, and public trust in them and in the old broadcast media is going through the floor. But they are not necessarily writing or even broadcasting for us.
I would not mind the money that they were on for being pointless to us, but there are other ways of making it. Their access, on the other hand. Their influence where it matters. Now, that is a point, indeed.
Their influence with the people who make the decisions never wanes, no matter how few of us plebs buy the papers.
