The Labour Party Conference could of course still be held, but in one of Durham County Council's schools, which will apparently be perfectly safe a week on Monday, never mind in September.
Ah, the Labour Party in the North East. It has exploded with derision at Richard Holden's very promising proposal for a rail link between Consett and the Metro Centre. What next? Bringing back the buses?
Labour here never changes. There is always limitless money for vanity projects, while the suggestion of anything useful is patronised into oblivion. Or, if that does not work, then it is punished a great deal more severely than that. But this is not a one-party state anymore.
The Twitter account of North West Durham Constituency Labour Party continues to pledge fealty to Laura Pidcock. What does she have to say about a rail link between Consett and the Metro Centre? And what does she have to say about the fact that Durham County Council's schools will be reopening on 1st June?
