Not very long ago, the SNP was claiming, quite unchallenged, that it had half a million members, about one in 10 people in Scotland. It has now had to admit that it had only one fifth of that at the end of 2021, and that even that figure had since dropped by 30 per cent.
As a result of that forced admission, the party is collapsing before our very eyes. The awe and fear that this supposedly enormous and tightly disciplined organisation inspired in the rest of Scottish civil society, and to no small extent at United Kingdom level, were built entirely on bluff and bluster.
How do you think this ends?
ReplyDeleteI would not begin to speculate.
