Never bet against Boris Johnson. They now need to prove that his admitted misleading of Parliament was intentional. And prove it to whom? Not to a judge or a jury, but to the House of Commons. No Conservative MP could expect to be reselected after having voted to accept any report that did anything other than exonerate him in full.
Fixed penalty notices issued by the Metropolitan Police do not exactly look reliable after today, any more than does what had already been the Labour Party's slowly but discernibly collapsing project to install a spycop as Prime Minister. Although Louise Casey is finished. Her entire professional record will certainly now be torn to pieces, and very probably so will her personal life. Expect that to begin within a week.
Look how quickly Casey has gone away.
