Bottom Trump

If Donald Trump had simply invested his inheritance in a mutual fund that tracked the S&P 500, then he would now be worth twice what he is.

Trump is a spectacularly unsuccessful businessman who happened to start out so rich that he could never become poor.

But if he did become the Republican nominee, then, by being that nominee, he would take 40 per cent of the vote.

How could Britain retain its closest diplomatic and military relationship, how could Britain retain almost any diplomatic or military relationship, with a country that had given two out of five votes to Donald Trump?

Nor would Britain be the only country where that question arose. How could almost any country retain a relationship with the one that had given two out of five votes to Donald Trump?

The one, moreover, where the relevant Congressional organs were routinely under the control of the party that had nominated him.
