In The Triumph of the Political Class, Peter Oborne writes, of the complicity of the media in the Iraq War:
"Very few British journalists – and not the author – emerged with great credit from this passage of history. Among those who did can be included Simon Jenkins, Robert Fisk, Matthew Parris, Polly Toynbee, Simon Kellner (editor of the Independent) and Piers Morgan (former editor of the Daily Mirror)."
The exoneration of Morgan of the charge that he was engaged in the same criminality as his warmongering competitors is a cause for the utmost rejoicing.
