Scraping the Bottom of Both Barrels

Forcing local authorities to invest in arms companies (as quite a lot of them already do) would effectively require them to fund the Conservative Party. It would be a kind of public money laundering.

There is something almost comical, but profoundly unfunny, about the idea that the kind of person who becomes the Leader of a Council, regardless of party, ought to be in any way subject to the kind of person who becomes a Minister in the present "Government".
