Progressive Momentum, Momentous Progress

Momentum and Progress do both sound like team names from The Apprentice.

But they both slogged their guts out in Oldham, as they both do all over the place.

They both engage people to whom traditional party activity (always the core, but never the totality) simply does not fit into the pattern of their lives.

And they both include people for whom the leap to party membership is for whatever reason daunting, or professionally impossible, or domestically difficult, or what have you.

Progress does not "parachute in" candidates as if constituency officers and activists were fools or shrinking violets. Nor is Momentum "plotting deselections" as if that were the case.

They need to start holding joint events.
