See you there?

    1. I heartily recommend Baltic on Blackfriars Road, opposite Southwark station. Yes, Saahhrf of the River. But you'd be surprised. Quite possibly now my favourite restaurant in the world. Until the next one, anyway.

Preceded by complimentary bacon rolls and lashings of Yorkshire tea on the train, and followed by coffee at the English-Speaking Union. Then a saunter across to Piccadilly to the Club for afternoon tea.

Thence to the Lords for the talk (details to follow), to St Stephen's Tavern, to the Parcel Yard in King's Cross, and home, during which three-hour train journey we cleaned them out of the free whisky and Canada Dry, so we had to finish off on the G&Ts.

A most educational day out, Comrade.

  2. George Best once moved to Canada after seeing a sign on the back of a bus saying Drink Canada Dry.

    1. The old ones are the best.

Mind, we made a pretty good job of it.

    1. There are those who claim that when they visited me in hospital, they saw ice and lemon in the intravenous drip. But that is not true. It was, of course, ice and lime.
