Godse, Not Gandhi

That is whose statue Narendra Modi would doubtless like to see outside the Palace of Westminster.

And as a member of the Hindu Mahasabha, Godse will have supported the British War effort.

Like the members of the Muslim League.

But unlike Gandhi.

Ponder these things.

  1. The news that a statue of Ghandi is to be erected in Parliament Square just beggars belief. Notwithstanding his work for peace, such as it was, his well-known prevalence into his old age of sleeping naked with naked young girls should immediately debar him from any such public honour, especially at a time when the Establishment, and Parliament itself, is mired in scandal for some of its senior and powerful occupants doing exactly this (but more so with young boys, perhaps). It is particularly bizarre at a time when all public tributes to such people as Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris are being dismantled as quickly as possible for being paedophiles.
It seems to me that George Osborne is doing this primarily for financial reasons in order to sell contracts to India. Why William Hague is pushing this I do not know but his behaviour and judgement become more erratic and questionable with every passing day.
But my primary objection is that we have more than enough great men and women from our own history who are much more deserving of such an honour outside the Mother of Parliaments than any foreign national. If we were to concentrate on our own historical figures then it might possibly have a positive educational effect on those who represent us inside the Palace of Westminster because so many seem oblivious or dismissive of our numerous great personalities who did indeed make this a great country.

    1. I quite agree.

But this is Gandhi's second statue in London. The first is in Tavistock Square, and it was unveiled by the then Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, as long ago as 1968, also to oil the wheels of trade.

I suspect that Osborne does not know that it is there. Just as I suspect that he does not know that RSS membership makes Modi a brother-in-arms of Godse, Gandhi's assassin.

  2. Of course we're doing it for trade. What's wrong with that? Are you stupid? Would you rather we didn't attract all that investment from India and our companies didn't get privileged access to emerging markets?

The West will increasingly be grovelling to China and India as they become the new economic powerhouses and the US declines (as it increasingly is under Obama's socialist spending spree and economic mismanagement which has rendered the US a dependent of China as it's personal bank)

Look out for more of this. And get used to it.

    It's the future,
