You cannot be a candidate for Leader of the Conservative Party unless you are an MP in receipt of that party's whip.
The Leader and the Chairman have both publicly given Boris Johnson an instruction that he had ignored, so the withdrawal of the whip looks like a formality. Ending Johnson's political career once and for all.
His journalistic career is not looking too promising, either. As soon as a Muslim woman is attacked by someone shouting "letterbox" or "bank robber", then that will be the end of Boris Johnson. Expect that within a week.
