Congratulations to Fox News on having managed to illustrate its tribute to Aretha Franklin with a photograph of Patti LaBelle. When its proprietor, Rupert Murdoch, dies, then I suggest a photograph of his wife's previous husband, Mick Jagger. After all, they all look the same, don't they?
Beyond that, though, the Queen of Soul is dead. All you Post-Post-Postmodern millennials out there, that is in no sense an ironic statement. When Chuck Berry died last year, then the story was told of how, on meeting him, the Rolling Stones had literally kissed his feet. Aretha was in that same league. Say a little prayer for the soul of the Queen of Soul. And show some respect.
