No one has ever become Leader of the Labour Party against the wishes of the trade unions. If that happened, then the cash tap would be turned off.
But Boris Johnson is about to become Leader of the Conservative Party against the wishes of the people who paid its bills.
It is no wonder, then, that that party's own MPs have already said they were going to bring him down on his first day.
It would only take three of them. Three who were already planning to retire, perhaps. Easy.
Boris Johnson will be the Mayfly Prime Minister.
