A Big Question For The Big Meeting

At the forthcoming Durham Miners' Gala, no doubt a seat on the platform will again be given to the Leader of Durham County Council, Councillor Dr Simon Henig CBE.

Yet in all the kerfuffle around the new headquarters of Durham County Council, remember that the contract to build it has been awarded to the Kier Group, with its history of blacklisting.

How can it be acceptable for the man most responsible to be seated on the platform of one of the largest trade union events in the world, and easily the largest in this country?

How can trade unionists bring themselves to share a platform with him? Why should there not be picketing?
