No News of the World

I do not know by which I am more shocked and appalled, that Andy Coulson was a crook and a thug in his former job, or that Andy Coulson is a crook and a thug in his current job. Ooda thunk it?

Still, add this story to William Hague's dodgy judgement (not for the first time - remember his endorsement of Jeffrey Archer for Mayor of London?), to the collapse of the flagship schools policy, and to all of this Coalition's other disasters from the almost immediate resignation of the thieving Chief Secretary to the Treasury onwards, and it would have been toast by now.

But it has the support of Tony Blair, of whose venal and vacuous celebrity personage this country's glorified gossip columnists, who purport to be political journalists, are utterly in awe.

  1. That'll be why the story has been killed.

  2. They might not yet have pulled that one off.

  3. I'm not sure about the rest, but the Blair government ran into a sex scandal involving the (now mostly admired) Foreign Secretary almost from the start.
