The Future, Not The Past

Let Ed Balls, Andy Burnham (shame about the Trident bit) and Diane Abbott on the air, and marvel that they actually have things to say. More than Ed Miliband had, in fact.

But he is still the best hope of stopping his brother, repeatedly and splendidly cut to the bone by Abbott. Does Labour really want a Leader endorsed by the Coalition-supporting Blair? Does Labour really want the only Leader who thinks that the cuts don't go far enough, that the top rate of tax should be abolished, that the Iraq War was a splendid idea, that pensions should not be linked to earnings, that we need CCTV on every street corner and 90-day detention without charge, that Child Benefit should be means-tested? Does Labour really want a Leader who devised the (failed) "free" schools programme, the flogging off of our GP services to the American healthcare companies, the abolition of all three Armed Forces through their "merger" under overall American command with a single EU "capability"?

We shall soon find out.
