Putting Up, Not Shutting Up

I have known Pat Glass a long time. We were Parish Councillors together, and we still live only a few streets from each other.

But I am a left-wing Eurosceptic of the old school who will be voting to Leave, and who wants a huge taking back of powers even if there is a vote to Remain.

I believe in balanced migration in order to protect workers' rights and public services, which are at least as essential as anything else to the character and identity of this country.

And I was already planning to stand for the new seat containing Lanchester in 2020, if I could raise £100,000 in the next year in order to campaign full time between then and the General Election.

  1. Yet Remain is still going to win, because who'd vote for Boris Johnson or Michael Gove? And that bloke probably was a racist. You and I have encountered enough of them on the doorstep.

    1. Alas, I fear that you are right on all counts.

  2. People talk about Gillian Duffy but Labour gained that seat at that election.

    1. And the Tories didn't win that Election. All the hype was Cameron would walk it and then Duffy happened on top of that. But he ended up in coalition with the party that had lost that very same seat to Labour.

  3. It always should have been you. You always should have been our MP.

    1. You are very kind. I am now introduced at funerals as "the man who should have been our MP". Yes, really.

  4. A measured conversation on the merits of immigration is fine. A rant against foreigners is not fine. There can be a fine line and sometimes no line at all. Pat's been fed to the wolves by the party. You yourself know what that is like.
