I am delighted for Boris Johnson. Dominic Raab versus Keir Starmer would have been a nightmare of Loony Rightery all round.
I have never know a Righty who did not convert to the National Health Service when it saved their life. It has also saved mine at least twice. Although I am a lifelong believer in it, anyway. But even so.
In fact, one of the things that I like about my new MP, Richard Holden, is that he is finally getting something done about replacing Shotley Bridge Hospital.
The first major campaign in which I was ever involved, including my first ever appearance on television, was in defence of Shotley Bridge Hospital, well over 20 years ago.
Richard has already got more done about guaranteeing its replacement than Laura Pidcock did in two and half years.
The Budget of March 2020, and the Government's response to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, have ended the era that began with the Budget of December 1976.
Only the party of the 1976 Budget still wishes to live in that era, and it is easily on course to take practically no votes at all next time.
The Centre is the think tank for this new era. Please give generously.
