Mobile phone roaming charges are what currency exchange fees used to be, back in the days when, astonishing though it now seems, there were people who wanted this country to join the euro.
They did so very largely because they objected to having to pay currency exchange fees. They truly believed that that was not only an argument, but a conclusive one.
Yet for all their entitlement and their media access, they were economically and politically illiterate then, and they are economically and politically illiterate now.
