Who Should Have Been

I used to be talked off as a potential MP for this safe Labour seat.

I am now introduced at funerals as "the man who should have been our MP" (yes, seriously).

But it is just as well that that never happened, because I should have had to have launched a Leadership campaign this afternoon.

Vote Out for poor Jeremy's sanity. An In vote on his conscience could send him over the edge.

  1. If you had ever got in, you would be Leader already by now. Hilary Armstrong and Neil Fleming, whose career has gone absolutely nowhere and who is back living in Lanchester after all that, can burn in the hottest corner of hell. For that, they would have to die. The sooner, the better.

  2. You are a terrible loss to Parliament. The party's treatment of you over the years was shocking, refusing to give you your own CLP's nomination for the NEC even though all the others were arranged, refusing to let you try for a district council seat and preferring to lose it than let you have it. You are better off out of it but the country would have been better off with you as an MP. At least Fleming isn't one, either. That is something, I suppose.

  3. Look on the bright side, David, if there is a Yes vote, it'll be because the more democracy/Social Europe vote turned out even though it did involve voting for David Sodding Cameron.

    1. And get absolutely nothing for it. Make it absolutely impossible for the policies of which they approved ever to be implemented.

At EU level, legislation can only originate with the Commission, which can only draft it pursuant to the Treaties. Those enshrine and entrench neoliberalism at every point.

That is just what the EU is. Always has been, always will be.
