Rishi Sunak may or may not believe in levelling up, but Liz Truss certainly does not, meaning that Red Wall MPs would have to be electorally suicidal to allow her on the ballot paper for Leader.
Sunak could pay for his party's General Election campaign, employ a full time agent in every constituency, give every Constituency Chairman the same salary, and match every Conservative Councillor's allowance, all out of his own pocket and without even noticing. He should state frankly that he would do that as long as he remained Leader. The party would then elect him and let him do whatever else he liked, for as long as he liked. He is still only 41.
No one seriously doubts that Tony Blair has taken an illegal drug. No one seriously suggests that Gordon Brown ever has. David Cameron, no doubt. Theresa May, no suggestion. Boris Johnson, no doubt. So next time is our turn. Does anyone seriously doubt that Truss has taken an illegal drug? Does anyone seriously suggest that Sunak ever has?
Are you on crack?
ReplyDeleteNo, but Liz Truss might have been in her time. If not that, then certainly cannabis.
DeleteCan you imagine Margaret Thatcher or Theresa May sleeping with another woman's husband?
ReplyDeleteNo, of course not. Nor could anyone imagine Rishi Sunak committing adultery.
