Matt Hancock has shares in his sister's private healthcare company, to which NHS contracts are being awarded. Labour is 14 point behind that. Among the electorally decisive working class, the Conservative lead is 19 points.
Even if the wishful thinking were true, and this were a post-vaccination bounce that would dip eventually, then if would have to dip an awfully long way in order to create a Labour lead out of those numbers.
The principal tactical aim of the Left in Britain is that the Labour Party under Keir Starmer should do as badly as possible at elections, so I occasionally think of ways in which the Conservative Party could consolidate and expand what was now its base.
But where is the need? Matt Hancock has shares in his sister's private healthcare company, to which NHS contracts are being awarded. Labour is 14 point behind that. Among the electorally decisive working class, the Conservative lead is 19 points. All that the Conservatives need to do is to carry on as they are.
