Toughening Our Targets

Today, Boris Johnson has proposed the fiercest attack on mass living standards since the Second World War.

Against this, we must insist on an approach to climate change which protected and extended secure employment, with civilised wages and working conditions.

On an approach that encouraged economic development around the world, and which upheld the right of the working classes and of people of colour to have children.

On an approach that held down, and as far as practicable reduced, the fuel prices that always hit the poor hardest.

And on an approach that refused to restrict travel opportunities or a full diet to the rich.

From Manchester to Minneapolis, we have won two famous victories today. Keep up the momentum. The future can and must belong to us.
