The Red Lion Rampant

From Tommy Sheridan and Jim Sillars in Scotland, to Tariq Ali and Counterfire beyond, sections of the, also pro-Brexit, Left supported Scottish independence at the last referendum.

But that was before the serious prospect, or even the slightest prospect, that the British Prime Minister might be Jeremy Corbyn or anyone remotely like him.

The choice is not now between the three colours of Blairite Thatcherism and a "Taxpayers' Revolt" type of separatist movement such as also exists, equally unattractively, in Catalonia or in the North of Italy.

The choice is between a "Taxpayers' Revolt" type of separatist movement and, potentially very soon, Jeremy Corbyn.

Moreover, the whole point of the Yes campaign would now be to stay in the EU.

Bring on the next Scottish independence referendum. Hold it tomorrow, if possible.
