If you are still minded to describe football as “the sport of the working man” or whatever, then you need look no further than the fact that Sunderland is away to Portsmouth tomorrow evening.

A normal working day, followed by another normal working day.
There is no possibility of getting back to Sunderland any time before five o’clock on Tuesday morning.
It would have been yesterday, and many people had already paid for accommodation in Portsmouth tomorrow night. But it was moved.

If Portsmouth still needed the point (they are now safe) then I would have bet on a draw, conveniently what both teams need.
