Hmmm......"call me Paddy" Cormack is incredibly the Chairman of the "Northern Ireland Committee".
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible........because he actually knows his brief. Not normally a requirement. Also knows a fair bit about Jacobite history.
But wasnt there a little local difficulty about his re-selection as a candidate for the next Election. A difficulty which wont matter if he is the next Speaker.
One of the other candidates died during the campaign, so the election had to be postponed, although I can't quite see why.
ReplyDeleteI think the dispute that I am referring to was in the last year or so.
ReplyDeleteYes the Lib Dem did actually die during the campaign.
Reasonable enough to run it again as presumably news of the death actually influenced people not to vote Liberal.
"presumably news of the death actually influenced people not to vote Liberal."
ReplyDeleteWell, yes - if I heard that my previously preferred candidate was dead, I'd be strongly influenced to vote for someone else.
Splitter!
ReplyDeleteI know, dying indeed!
