Weapons of Mass Distraction?
The last time that all parties were agreed on a war was Libya, and the one before that was Afghanistan. How did those turn out? Both frontbenches were also in agreement on Iraq.
We are sending troops to Hungary, which there is no suggestion that anyone might invade, although the regime there does exemplify the sort that our membership of NATO now obliges us to defend.
This distraction is not going to work. It is perfectly possible to change Prime Ministers both in the run-up to a war, as happened in 1990, and during a war, as happened twice during the Second World War.
