While Vladimir Putin quakes at the very breath of the mighty Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak is looking for campaign donors even though his wife is richer than the Queen.
Sunak may or may not believe in the levelling up that has been made possible by withdrawal from Margaret Thatcher's Single Market and from the Customs Union that we joined while she was in the Cabinet. Truss, on the other hand, certainly does not believe in any of that.
If self-preservation were an instinct that the Red Wall MPs possessed, and if their colleagues elsewhere wanted their party to win the next General Election, then they would keep Truss off the ballot paper for any Conservative Party Leadership Election. Their best bet would be simply to crown Sunak.
People who wanted to vote for Trussism can already vote for Starmer.
ReplyDeleteQuite. But "Trussism"? You pay her far too high a compliment.
