A Liberal Dose?

I still do not understand how the Progressive Alliance allocates North Shropshire to the Liberal Democrats, although I do find the concept of the Progressive Alliance hilarious. So much for being 20 points ahead.

When Tony Blair said that any other Labour Leader would have been in that position, then Jeremy Corbyn was six points ahead. Keir Starmer cannot dream of such numbers, and any suggestion to the contrary is about to meet its match at the ballot box for the second time, following Labour's lowest ever vote at Old Bexley and Sidcup.

If somehow the Lib Dems did win the North Shropshire by-election, then that would be because they had voted against vaccine passports. Labour, on the other hand, will have voted in favour of them, quite possibly providing the Government's majority. Some Alliance, that. And some Opposition, from the party whose candidate at North Shropshire was Owen Paterson's old intern.

In a crowded field, this may be the most corrupt Government in British history. But it is blessed, and the rest of us are cursed, with the most inept Opposition in British history. While I carry no candle for the more pro-austerity and pro-war party to the Coalition, seeing the Lib Dems knock Labour into third place even after another week of this might just be worth advocating a vote for them.

  1. You advocated voting Lib Dem in 2017.

    1. For Owen Temple here at North West Durham, yes, and I myself voted for him. He was the Teaching Assistants' champion, whereas the Labour candidate was at best lukewarm on the issue, and was in any case a member of the same party as their oppressors.
