Wasting Your Hope?

Those of you who are hoping for Conservative MPs to rise up, you are wasting your hope. Princess Nut Nuts and her off Corbyn-hating Newsnight, Corbyn-hating ITN and the Corbyn-hating Guardian are coming for you.

Keir Starmer has replaced Jeremy Corbyn, and Joe Biden is replacing Donald Trump, so Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain are out, Brexit in anything but name is out, the Red Wall is out, reindustrialisation is out, and you are out.

If Corbyn and the movement that at least initially coalesced around him could not exist in British politics, then nor, for very much the same reasons, could anything else that was not Carrie Symonds, Starmer, and all that. And here we are. The bell tolls for thee. It always has done.

Any regicide next year would be a Cameroon Restoration to match the Blairite Restoration on the other side. But Boris Johnson is so much under the, er, thumb of Symonds that it is difficult to see why there might be felt to be any such need.

Cummings has never been a member of the Conservative Party, whereas Symonds is not only a member, but a former staffer. Much as Labour was monetarist even before the Conservatives were, so the Conservatives were what would now be called woke even before Labour was. Insofar as it ever went away, then that true character was always going to come back. And now, it has.

Taking down Corbyn was the dry run, or at least it was Act One of the play. "The centre" could not be challenged from the left, and now it cannot be challenged from the right, either. The questions are now, "How does that stop people from switching to Starmer who might otherwise have done so?" and "How does that help relations with the Biden Administration?" Nothing else.

The war on Corbyn made this possible, as it was intended to do. I am a declared and active Independent candidate for the parliamentary seat of North West Durham at the next General Election. Laugh all you like, but what are you doing?
