A Peer Without Peer

My friend Lord Stoddart of Swindon, a very great man who even wrote an endorsement of one of my books, has died at the age of 94. He was an active member of the House of Lords to the last.

He and I agreed that Peter Shore ought to have become Prime Minister. And he and I felt profoundly Jeremy Corbyn's betrayal of Brexit. I even stood for Parliament because of it, with his encouragement, although in his nineties he declined to play any role.

Whenever one of them passes on, then it hits home. It is up to us now. And I am still standing for Parliament, as an Independent here at North West Durham at the next General Election.
