The Third Party, Indeed

On the admittedly non-binding vote on Article 50, it turns out the Liberal Democrats Norman Lamb, Greg Mulholland and John Pugh were not merely absent.

They deliberately abstained.

One third of Lib Dem MPs abstained rather than vote against a Government amendment backing the Prime Minister's policy to "invoke Article 50 by 31st March 2017".

One third of them.

By quite some distance, that was any party's biggest ever rebellion on Europe.
