The Masters Now

Much fun and games about with whom the Tories might have to link up in order create a new group in the European Parliament. Latvians who hold an annual celebration of the Latvian SS Division, that sort of thing.

The real point, though, is that such parties are in the European Parliament, and quite often in the coalitions represented in the Council of Ministers, at all. So are Stalinists, Trotskyists, members of Eastern Europe's kleptomaniac nomenklatura, people who believe the Provisional Army Council of the IRA to be the sovereign body throughout Ireland, and a growing band of neoconservatives (who have of course stolen other people's parties), soon to be joined by their ever-dependable Islamist allies from the resurgent Caliphate of Turkey.

To the legislative will of these are we subject because of the Treaty of Rome (thanks to the Tories), the Single European Act (thanks to the Tories in general and Margaret Thatcher in particular) and the Maastricht Treaty (thanks to the Tories).
