Political prisoner, activist, journalist, hymn-writer, emerging thinktanker, aspiring novelist, "tribal elder", 2019 parliamentary candidate for North West Durham, Shadow Leader of the Opposition, "Speedboat", "The Cockroach", eagerly awaiting the second (or possibly third) attempt to murder me.
Whats difficult?
ReplyDeleteThe incident in North East (your part of the world) where a policeman was driving unnecesarily quick at 90mph without flashing lights and sirens.
His peers have found him guilty of dangerous driving and a sentence hopefully custodial awaits.
The police brought the prosecution so why is it so difficult to support them?
Perhaps you mean London? We have seen the incident. No doubt some red herrings from the Mets Press Office will be leaked inferring there was more to the incident than the video shows. Yet the ITN footage is pretty comprehensive, is it not?
What lies ahead. IPCC investigation? Followed by police investigation. Followed by CPS telling us "not in public interest"? Or will it go to trial?
Will a jury convict?
Would you or I have any hesitation in convicting or aquitting on evidence presented?
Supporting the police.....GOOD police is very important but that necessitates ridding the system of those who abuse.
The police were abused that day.
Seemingly not by this dead man.
In a broader way they were abused by the Government?
What is abuse of the Police?
Getting rid of a force that stood against Terrorism losing 302 officers.
"Re-branding" the service while giving a George Medal to its predecessor while pretending the sacrifice was valued.
Appointing convicted terrorist Martina Anderson (Sinn Féin IRA) to the Board overseeing the work of the new police.
Does that not revolt you more than finding a guilty cop......guilty?
The benefit of doubt, NECESSARILY given to the Met in the case of the shooting of the Brazilian guy is now itself a problem......unless the police are seen to DO something.
A thought which perhaps I offer with hesitation is that......if difficult issues like controversial killings in "Northern Ireland" had been dealt with efficiently and justly , there might actually have been a very different outcome than Terrorists in Government.
Look no further than the so called Bloody Sunday Enquiry, currently enriching lawyers at your expense and mine....to arrive at a conclusion which probably should have been arrived at over 35 years ago.
Do the Police make it difficult for us to support them?
NO NO NO.
But the acid test is NOT in this incident.
The acid test is how they handle it.
Agreed?
