The question is not whether Crown Prosecution Service staff should be paid bonuses for getting into work in the snow, but whether the CPS should exist at all.
Time was when the Police simply handed over prosecution work to local firms of solicitors, which then built it into their general workloads. What was wrong with that?
At the very least, it was better than a situation whereby people who have been charged are given no opportunity to clear their names by confronting their accusers in open court. Acquittal without trial is as abhorrent as conviction without trial.
