Welcome To The Thirty-Two County Republic?

While continuing to hold that the sovereignty of the 32 County Republic of 1916 resided in the Provisional Army Council of the IRA, Sinn Féin could be hours away from being in government across the whole of Ireland, a position from which it would never then be dislodged.

At which point, that Republic would for all practical purposes exist, for the first time ever, since the 26 Counties would be in the same position as had obtained in the Six Counties for a generation, with no major decision possible without the consent of that Council.

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil tell Sinn Féin's largely youthful voters, candidates and TDs that Sinn Féin came out the barrel of a gun in the twentieth century. To which their answer is, "Well, so did you." The same answer, of course, as they would give to the DUP or to the UUP.
