Burning Issues

Strengthening the Clean Air Act in urban areas would be better than depriving people, especially the elderly, of the cheap, solid fuel that is still important to them in many rural and ex-mining communities.

This ban is no more the doing of something called "The Left" than is, say, the permission of Extinction Rebellion to wreak havoc on the streets of Cambridge. Is Priti Patel part of "The Left"? Is Alok Sharma?

Meanwhile, in order to ensure that the next Leader of the Labour Party is a woman, Sir Keir Starmer now identifies as Sirkeira. The hips don't lie. But it is not Labour that is legislating for gender self-identification. Labour is in no position to do so.

Rather, the party that is legislating for gender self-identification is the party that is permitting Extinction Rebellion to wreak havoc on the streets of Cambridge (much to the fury of the Labour-run City Council), and which is moving to ban the sale of house coal and of wet wood. All without the slightest apparent internal dissent.

But there is another way. Ours is the 2020 Vision of a new political party, a new think tank, a new weekly newspaper, a new monthly cultural review, a new quarterly academic journal, and so much else besides. I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
