Eagle The Ego

There is no serious political question to which the correct answer is Donald Trump.

There is no serious political question to which the correct answer is Hillary Clinton.

There is no serious political question to which the correct answer is any of the original five contenders to lead the Conservative Party.

And there is no serious political question to which the correct answer is Angela Eagle.

Eagle was overpromoted to Shadow First Secretary of State because of a bout of co-ordinated foot-stamping on Twitter.

Overpromoted. Overrated. Overentitled.

There is a pronounced class dimension to this whole business; a sense that Jeremy Corbyn's supporters are the wrong sort.

Eagle supported the Iraq War, opposed an inquiry into it, supported the completely catastrophic intervention in Libya, and has at different times has supported both sides in the Syrian Civil War.

Eagle wishes to return Labour to its position between the General Election and the election of Corbyn, namely support for the running of a Budget surplus as an end in itself.

That illiterate policy has been abandoned by the Government. But those seeking to remove Corbyn want to restore it as the policy of the Labour Party.

From the platform of yesterday's Durham Miners' Gala, Corbyn expressed his support for the Durham Teaching Assistants.

He then signed their petition. A photograph of it with his signature on it will appear here as soon as I have it.

Most of the TAs are in Unison, while the rest are in the GMB. Both of those unions are affiliated to the Labour Party.

All of the TAs need to ensure that they are affiliated supporters, in order to vote for Corbyn.

If he were kept off the ballot, then why should those or any other trade unions remain affiliated?

  1. The Times and the Kammites have got it in for Leadsom. Look at Kamm's Twitter feed.

    She's clearly the best candidate.

    1. Alas, he has blocked me on Twitter. I feel the pain daily.

  2. He seems to get obsessions with certain people. Used to be Neil Clark until Kamm was cautioned by the police.

Now it's Peter Oborne, who just ignores his Tweets.

    1. The actual Peter Oborne? As if he would ever have heard of Oliver Kamm!

  3. Yes. He's obsessively Tweeting about him co-authoring some article with someone Kamm calls a "Srebrenica-denier."

    Oborne's heard of him alright.

They had a series of arguments in print over Oborne's book exposing the claim that Iran seeks WMD as a fraud.
