Withdrawal From Basra

Lads, now that you have withdrawn to the airport, get yourselves on those planes and bring yourselves home. Don't wait, just do it. On your arrival, you'd be cheered through the streets as heroes, the entire political class would collapse, and your admirable retired generals would be on hand to plug the gap until we, the People, had time to re-create proper political parties.

  1. Don't you think people might consider that to be a military coup? Do you like military coups?

  2. 1. Yes.

    2. That depends. The present political class simply has to go, and elections are now so successfully rigged by it that there is now way of removing it at the ballot box; indeed, thanks to that class's Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act, there need never be another General Election, anyway.

This would create the space for proper parties to emerge. The political emergency in Britain is now so grave as to warrant something of this kind. Yet more one-party state appointments today, I see.

  3. David,

I've added you to our list of "sites we actually read". I'm sure you will appreciate what a great honour this is!

    Regards,
    Charles.
