What does it say about the Government's spending limits that they are acceptable to George Osborne?

Of course, it is all academic to him: like Cameron and the rest of them, he is far too rich to have to pay tax. Perhaps it is deducted at source from his MP's salary, but he wouldn't even notice the full sixty grand whack, so he certainly won't notice whatever is left of that after tax.

Yes, probably. That is, after all, how tax works.

  2. It must be a whole new experience for Osborne. If he's being subjected to it. I bet he's still found some way round it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if few or no MPs actually paid income tax.

  3. It will be deducted at source, from their payslips, like everyone else earning a regular salary paid from the public purse. How would they avoid it?

  4. Oh, they probably do. I just wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, that's all. And my main point stands: it's a tiny proportion of Osborne's income, and a mere sixty grand would be even without tax. He and his simply do not live in the same world as the rest of us.
