But Why?

Johan Eliasch is giving up his Conservative Party membership, apparently. But why is he bothering to do that? He is clearly a member of the Real Ruling Party, the One Party in this one-party state, anyway.

    You might see it as evidence that you're wrong about the One Party. Why, if Labour and the Tories are the same, would you leave one to join the other?

    He hasn't joined the other. He doesn't need to: he gets to be in government without having to.
