Double Disaster

Backed by the rest of that crowd, Nick Cohen is leading the charge against those whose "libertarian" and "contrarian" grandstanding about Covid-19 might have contributed to deaths from it.

He may have a point. But he and his allies were just as wrong about Iraq, and no one suggests that Covid-19 in Britain is ever going to kill a million people, as were killed in Iraq.

At the very least, everyone who was wrong about both of those matters now needs to be drummed out of public life, with everyone who was wrong about either of them being put on a final warning.

After all, between the overwhelming public support for the lockdowns, and the 90 per cent public opposition to the Iraq War, there would be no shortage of potential replacements.
