Why is there no Covid-19 vaccination site in Consett, most obviously at Shotley Bridge? It makes no difference to me personally. From Lanchester, I can just as easily make it to Durham or to Stanley. But it is a striking omission.
Councillor Alex Watson, Alderman Clive Robson and I are campaigning for the National Infrastructure Bank to be headquartered in Consett. Consett was emblematic of deindustrialisation in the 1980s, and it is the largest town in North West Durham, which has come to be regarded as the archetypal Red Wall seat.
