The BBC ought not to be accredited, or in any way admitted, to this year's Labour Party Conference.
It has plenty of footage with which to fill BBC Parliament instead. Its report of Orgreave, and the resignation of Stephen Doughty on air for a fee, could be played alternately over, and over, and over again.
Anyone else who wanted to cover the Conference ought to be more than welcome to do so. But not the BBC. Not this year. After that, let the matter be kept under permanent review.
It is difficult to see how the BBC's impartiality rules would then permit it to cover any of the other Conferences, either.
In any case, UKIP and the SNP, at least, would enjoy nothing better than to join in the ban.
A good slap is long overdue.
