Even if we were never in it, some of us remember the old working class.
To us, this is completely jaw-dropping, even though it is not now new.
The economic basis was destroyed, with these social, cultural and political consequences.
The only solution is the restoration of that economic basis.
That doesn't make any sense at all.
ReplyDeletePeople were far poorer in the 1930's than anyone is now (when there was no free education, healthcare, housing or child benefit) yet they had far more self respect.
This is a moral collapse, not an economic one.
