Super MEPs

"£250 million" is now certain people's catch-all scare figure for the alleged cost of anything that they happen to dislike. But I think that we should run with the idea of Super MEPs.

However, rather than have them as proposed by Andrew Duff, there should instead be one citizen of each member-state appointed by the Leader of each of the Groups (pretendy EU-wide parties) of elected members, and the same by the representative of the non inscrits on the Conference of Presidents.

Confrontation with who among our compatriots were deemed appropriate legislators by several of those would certainly bring home to the British people, among others, the reality of those to whose legislative will we were subject both in the European Parliament and in the Council of Ministers.

  1. We thought you might give it a go, actually. Our people in Poland are very sound on abortion, euthanasia, marriage, workers' rights, welfare provision, anti-war. But they are a bit harsh in tone and their support for the death penalty is a weakness. Your British tone is much better and you have no such Achilles heel. We know that you are not too well, but eyes in the Eternal City are on you either to put yourself forward or to produce someone equally acceptable. You know who we are, so do get back in touch.

  2. I will be back in touch, but in all honesty I cannot see this happening.
