Club Med

In the European Parliament and Council of Ministers, we are already subject to the legislative will of Stalinists and Trotskyists, neo-Fascists and neo-Nazis, members of Eastern Europe’s kleptomaniac nomenklatura, neoconservatives such as now run France and Germany, or people who believe the Provisional Army Council to be the sovereign body throughout Ireland. Soon to be joined by Turkish Islamists, secular ultranationalists, and violent Kurdish Marxist separatists.

It was to this that Heath signed us up while Thatcher was in his Cabinet. It was further into this that Thatcher herself took us. And it was even further into that Major took us, in the form of a Treaty signed by the very hand of Francis Maude, while his Cabinet table was graced with the presence of William Hague.

But Hague wants to go further than that. Reviving an idea originating, at least in English, with Oswald Mosley, he also wants us to be subject to the legislative will of all manner of Islamists, Ba'athists, Nasserists, Phalangists, Likudniks (of whom there are already at least a hundred on the benches behind and beside him), Kahanists, and people who believe that Gentiles are created purely as beasts of burden.
