The Ins and Outs of It All

I am not convinced that Labour has ever lost any votes at all because of immigration.

The UKIP voters in Labour seats used to vote Tory. UKIP has never taken a seat from Labour. And now, it never will.

The very heavily public school tabloid press has projected all sorts of prejudices onto "the white working class", while in turn defining it as "traditional Labour voters".

But, at least by that definition, that projection is not borne out by the slightest electoral evidence.

  1. Naughty, naughty, pointing out Labour ever got less than 100% of the vote in "the North" (all one place) in the past. Next you'll be mentioning how well Ukip do in places with hardly any immigration.

The same was true of the areas that swung the referendum for Leave. Immigration? In Sunderland? In Hartlepool? WHAT immigration?

But what would you know about "the white working class" after 35 years in Co. Durham, David? It's possible you've never, ever, ever heard anyone use the term in real life. But don't tell the posh boys at the Sun THAT, or they might actually curl up and die.

  2. Blue Labour really didn't invite you to write for their book, did they?

    1. They have cut off their noses to spite the faces that they have set against Corbyn. His Trotskyist allies have spent 70 years saying that the problem with the 1945 Settlement was that it was too top down and bureaucratic.
